o here is the story. Not a story. The legend. It all started one dark and stormy night when Walt turned to Brenda and said, "Who can care for the Bloodhounds while we travel?". Brenda replied, "Well that is a pickle. They slobber! They chew! They have endless, boundless energy! There are so many of them!"
Walt then decided the only solution was to build a boarding kennel that could house their own family of beloved dogs and make room for many others too.
Then magically, overnight, with no effort at all, BlooMoon was born. Overnight, over many, many nights and days and hours.
Then because BlooMoon was indeed needed and has flourished, Brenda and Walt hardly ever travel! Be careful what you dream of, for surely it will come true!
BlooMoon is a labor of love and a business we have put our hearts and souls into. Every detail of what and how we do what we do at BlooMoon has been carefully planned, honed and improved.
We never stop learning and our dogs are sometimes the best instructors!
We thank you all for helping us continue to make BlooMoon the best Pet Resort in North Texas!
Why is BlooMoon out in the country?
We did our research and found that most kennels are encroached upon by development over time. We believe our location should help prevent that problem. ALSO, although we have multiple barriers between boarding guests and exits we know that if a pet were to exit our facility they would not be on a busy highway or major thorough fare where the chance of injury or worse is great.
Why the name BlooMoon? Why that weird spelling?
Walt and Brenda bred champion Bloodhounds with the name BlooMoon Bloodhounds. They bred only occasionally based on the health and quality of the dam and sire, therefore only once in a blue moon! The spelling is because Blue Moon is owned by many many businesses and not easily used by new entities. ALSO when Bloodhounds bay (howl) they make circles with their floppy lips that kinda look like O's… Bloooooo Moooooon!
When you say "Critter" boarding, what on earth is a critter?!
Critters are all the pets that are not cats or dogs! They are wonderful, well loved pets, but require different housing and food than a cat or dog. We have cared for hedgehogs, guinea pigs, hamsters, rabbits, lots of birds, a pet pig and even snakes (eeek!)
Why is it called a "Pet Resort"
The BlooMoon staff work hard to make all of our guests happy! They are served meals in bed twice a day! Guests are given baths with the best shampoo on earth (at least we think so). Guests can order ice cream for an afternoon snack! All of our guest sleep on premium Kuranda Beds! BlooMoon is climate controlled! There is a swimming pool!
Of course it's a Pet Resort!
Whats the story with the peacocks?
We love em. That's it. The beautiful male is named "Elvis". The two pea hens are Pricilla and Prudence. They appear quite frequently at the Moon. They do leave us presents however and we clean those up as soon as possible!
Whats the biggest breed of dog you have boarded?
We have boarded a great many Mastiffs and Great Danes. We even had Great Dane brothers that boarded together in the same run. They were quite happy that way and would have been sad had they been separated.
What's a "Houdini" dog? Is that a special breed?
Indeed "houdini" dogs are super special! Not a breed really, but you know one when you have one. Bloohounds, the breed Walt and Brenda championed for years are almost always "houdini's". They can escape yards and spaces that other dogs don't. They flip gate latches, they jump over 6 foot fences, they dig under fences and they pick locks!
Because these houdini's are so very talented, BlooMoon was built to contain them. We have double and triple barriers to exits. All gates have clip locks on them. All the perimeter fencing at BlooMoon has buried fencing.
It's not that we "double dog dare" our guests to test our facility by escape, but we are prepared for the next "houdini"!
Thanks to you and Walt and your staff for the great care our dogs and the rescue dogs received while we were in California. The dogs looked great and we could tell how much they enjoyed their stay at BlooMoon. It means a lot to us to know they were so well cared for.

My dog is always happy when we drop and pick her up.
Terrific! I was so afraid to leave my babies anywhere, but they love it here! Personal attention, lots of love, and the facilities are great - comfortable, clean, safe. The best review was when we went back the second time - instead of hiding in the back seat and whining, they jumped out and wagged their tails and were ready to see their friends!
